Hi, I’m Michaelyn.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), and mental health has been close to my heart for as long as I can remember — it truly runs in the family. My dad’s a therapist, and I’ve always been drawn to helping others navigate life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and evidence-based care.
I take mental health seriously, not only through my clinical work but also in my academic journey — I graduated with honors in all of my degrees and was at the top of my class in my master’s program. But beyond the credentials, I’m a real person who understands what it’s like to struggle, to heal, and to grow. That’s why I bring a grounded, authentic approach to the care I provide.
My path began early — I started volunteering with hospice as a teenager — and this further fueled my desire to help others, which evolved into a career in psychiatric nursing. I’ve worked in inpatient psychiatric units, community clinics, and in outpatient services. These experiences help me to gain in-depth knowledge on how to treat a wide range of individuals and mental health conditions.
Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, insomnia, or other mental health conditions, I’m here to meet you where you are. I believe in creating a personalized plan that fits your unique needs and can evolve with you. For some, that includes medication as a short-term tool; for others, it becomes a key part of long-term well-being. I understand that deciding to take medication can be a big step, and I’m here to talk through your options openly and respectfully.
I am only one person on your care team. I understand that this journey is yours, and I want to work collaboratively with you and your support system (friends, family, therapists, other medical providers, etc) with the goal of helping you to achieve your goals and experience peace and a fuller, more engaged life.
Outside of my professional life, I’m a lifelong learner, an avid reader, occasional gamer, amateur crafter, and—depending on who you ask—a bit of a collector. Some might call it being a geek, but I see it as passion. Whether it’s your niche interest or mine, I think those little joys are what make life richer and more fun. When I’m not diving into a new book or trying out a new hobby, you might find me dreaming up my next traveling adventure. The next goal is to visit Europe. Just like anyone else, I’m doing my best to live a full, meaningful life—and I’d be honored to help you do the same.
